Wooden gates

The 19th century wooden gates of the church were in very bad conditions owed to prolonged exposition to strong sunlight and weather. Moreover, few, old and poorly executed restorations had worsened their state even further.

After the gates were cleaned and the wooden elements not pertaining to the original artefact were removed, some elements made with the same type of wood were integrated and sealed with epoxy resin. The final treatment contributed to nourish and protect the wood to make it resistant to the harsh environmental conditions.
